Synōvim Healthcare Solutions, Inc., a Kansas-based nonprofit focused on health information technology (HIT) and quality improvement services for healthcare providers, welcomes Shane Harris to an exciting new position as the organization’s Health IT and Security Systems Specialist. Harris brings a background of partnering with over 150 businesses in Northeast Kansas to address their information technology needs. With experience including project management, network design including enterprise wireless networks, solution implementation, administration, security analysis, physical & virtual security management, policy development and enforcement, malware detection and remediation, and even website development, Harris brings an advantageous skill set to the providers served by Synōvim.
Amber Gentry, Executive Director of Synōvim is thrilled to bring Harris and his rich security experience on staff. “Best practices in information security for the healthcare industry are becoming more imperative as part of daily operations for providers to preserve their patients’ privacy and protect their organization’s vital health information. Unfortunately, we’re seeing that a lack of technical resources, overwhelming costs, and complicated deployment and maintenance of a sophisticated level of security is difficult for providers to achieve and maintain. As a Regional HIT Adviser, it is crucial for Synōvim to have an expert like Shane at hand to consult for our providers.”
As a former network and security engineer, Harris is well-versed in strategy, planning, and deployment to address existing vulnerabilities and detect unforeseen attacks. With proactive network security practices, these cyber-security threats can often be mitigated before they can negatively impact the organization. His enthusiasm for people, technology, and the healthcare industry make him an excellent addition to the team at Synōvim.
Harris is devoted to researching, developing, and testing new technologies as they become available. He dedicates time for continued technical education and stays informed on the latest security vulnerabilities and threats on a daily basis.
